RICHMOND, Texas — An 88-year-old man has been treated and released from a Houston-area hospital after he was bitten by an alligator near his home.
Authorities say the man was cutting weeds near a pond behind his home when he was bitten on Tuesday. He was later treated for hand and arm injuries.
Investigators say the man had previously fed the alligators in the pond near Richmond, located southwest of Houston.
Texas Parks and Wildlife Department game wardens are investigating the incident.
According to state law, it is a Class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $500 to feed an alligator.
