NEW YORK — A Long Island woman accused of shooting a New York City Police Department officer in the head with a pellet gun has been ordered jailed on $1 million bond, or $500,000 bail.
Police say a plainclothes detective was in an unmarked car in the Jamaica section of Queens on Wednesday. Authorities say he was shot by a pellet that came from the passenger in a car going in the opposite direction.
The car’s make and license plate led investigators to 24-year-old Tiara Ferebee of Riverhead.
Newsday reports (http://nwsdy.li/2efQfym ) Ferebee’s attorney told a Queens judge Sunday night there’s no evidence linking his client to the shooting other than her alleged proximity.
Police say Ferebee is accused of attempted murder of a police officer. Newsday says that charge wasn’t listed in court records.
