MISSOULA, Mont. — Police in Missoula have cited a 15-year-old boy with disorderly conduct after a clown threat was posted on social media.

Sgt. Travis Welsh says the boy was cited Wednesday. Welsh did not release the boy’s name because he is a juvenile.

Officers allege the boy created a Facebook profile under the name “Zootown Klown” and posted a threat on Oct. 5 saying “klowns will be at all Missoula high schools this Friday night to kidnap and kill some students.” A later post said the threat was a prank.

Missoula is one of numerous cities that have been dealing with clown threats.
