FRUITDALE — A Belleville, Illinois man was arrested Sept. 8 after he was pulled over for passing in a no-passing zone and going more 30 mph over the speed limit.

Michael D. Stoeber, 53, was driving on State Road 135 North near Lake LaSalle Road at around 6:15 p.m. Sept. 8 when he was stopped by Indiana State Police Trooper Chris Griggs for going 78 mph in a 45 mph zone, a probable cause affidavit said.

Griggs reported smelling alcohol on Stoeber, that his speech was slurred, his eyes were red/glassy and that he had poor manual dexterity and unsteady balance. A breath test showed his blood-alcohol content to be 0.09, over the limit of 0.08, the report said.

He was charged with three operating while intoxicated counts on Sept. 13.
