BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Police say a man has confessed to fatally shooting his Birmingham boyfriend. ( ) reports 25-year-old Marvin Smith died of his injuries shortly after being driven to a hospital by 27-year-old Reginald Kennedy on Saturday night.

Birmingham police spokesman Lt. Sean Edwards said Kennedy initially told investigators he had found Smith on the ground bleeding from an apparent gunshot wound, but upon further questioning confessed to shooting the victim.

Kennedy is charged with murder. It is unclear whether he has an attorney.
