CHARLESTON, W.Va. — West Virginia Sen. Shelley Moore Capito has joined a growing list of Republicans speaking out against GOP nominee Donald Trump’s recently released comments about women.

Capito says in a statement Saturday that as a woman, mother and grandmother she is “deeply offended” by Trump’s remarks, which were recorded in 2005.

Capito says “the appropriate next step may be for (Trump) to reexamine his candidacy.”

Other senators are calling for Trump to quit the race. Sens. Mike Lee of Utah and Mike Crapo of Idaho are calling on Trump to quit the campaign so his running mate, Mike Pence, can lead the ticket.

Pence, who was filling in for Trump, has canceled his appearance at a Wisconsin rally Saturday with House Speaker Paul Ryan.
