A Brown County man has been charged with felony fraud after his landlord reported he used her debit card without her authorization.

The landlord told Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Chad Williams Aug. 1 that she owns a property on State Road 46 East, but lives in Indianapolis, and that one of her tenants, Shawn O. Kennedy, 28, had been using her bank card without her permission, a probable cause affidavit said.

The landlord said she received a debit card that was supposed to be used for deposit only and that Kennedy had been withdrawing money from her account. She contacted the bank and cancelled the card.

On Sept. 29, Kennedy was charged with fraud, a Level 6 felony.
