National Night Out happening tonight

National Night Out is coming to downtown Nashville tonight and local law enforcement wants to see your family there.

The event is free to the public from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Village Green at Jefferson and Main streets.

There will be a dunk tank, bounce house and various games for all ages — even adults, Nashville Assistant Police Chief Tim True said. The event will also include free food from Uncle Beni’s Barbecue, sidewalk chalk drawing and a DJ with music for dancing.

WKKG will also be out at the Village Green broadcasting from the event, True said.

Representatives from the Indiana State Police, Indiana Conservation Officers, Nashville Police, Hamblen Township Volunteer Fire Department, Brown County Sheriff’s Department and Columbus Regional Hospital EMS will be on hand to answer questions and show the equipment they use.

“It’s basically us and the community getting together to try to create that bridge we have between public service, mainly law enforcement, and the community,” True said.
