ORONO, Maine — Police in a Maine town say they’re aware of multiple clown sightings.

The Orono Police Department posted on its Facebook Page after the sightings Monday night, saying there’s no indication that whoever is doing it is dangerous. But police say they won’t tolerate anyone harassing, threatening or trespassing on property.

Authorities say if someone is doing this to purposely scare people, they will “handle them accordingly.”

Police say the sightings have made residents nervous due to similar incidents throughout the country.
