DEWEY BEACH, Del. — State police say the dozen people injured when a trolley overturned on State Route 1 near Dewey Beach were guests at a wedding.

The trolley was being pulled by a van when police say it started to sway and then tipped over on Saturday afternoon. Police say it’s not yet clear what caused the vehicle to overturn.

Police say the van stopped immediately and bystanders helped pull passengers out of the trolley. Police say at least 12 people were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
