VAN BUREN TWP. — Two drivers and a passenger were injured the morning of Sept. 29 after they nearly collided on Bellsville Pike and hit trees instead.

Laura Minett, 30, Columbus, told Brown County Sheriff’s Sgt. Bill Southerland that she was westbound on Bellsville Pike and close to the center line when she struck a 2005 Honda Civic driven by Gus Daugherty, 18, Columbus. She went off the south side of the road and hit a tree.

Daugherty told Southerland he was eastbound when he saw Minett’s 2012 Chrysler Newport coming toward him, veering into his lane of travel. He tried to speed up to get past the vehicle, but he said he woke up and found his vehicle in a ditch against a tree.

Daugherty’s passenger, Abigail N. Clemans, 18, Columbus, was taken to a hospital by ambulance for pain in her abdomen/pelvis area.

Minett was treated at the scene for chest pain. Daughtery also received treatment at the scene for minor bleeding to his arm, the report said.

Both vehicles were towed. Everyone was wearing seat belts.
