Driver in crash arrested for driving while intoxicated

A Bloomington man involved in an accident on State Road 135 Sept. 6 was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Joshua Stargell reported that he could smell alcohol on Walter Morris Jr., 56, the driver of a 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis.

Stargell reported that Morris’ eyes were red/watery and that his speech was slurred. A breath test showed his blood-alcohol content to be 0.10, over the legal limit of 0.08.

Morris was charged with three OWI counts, all misdemeanors, and failure to remain at the scene of an accident, a Class B misdemeanor.
