TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — A woman has been killed and a man critically injured in a shooting at a hotel in Travelers Rest.

Police Chief Lance Crowe told local media outlets that officers were called to the hotel shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday.

The Greenville County coroner’s office said 61-year-old Deborah Atkins Winkler of Travelers Rest was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head.

A man in the room has been taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Crowe says there is no reason to believe that there is a danger to the public.

Police have not released a motive for the shooting.
