FORT LEE, N.J. — A Florida man facing charges including aggravated manslaughter in the death of his infant son two years ago in New Jersey has been given a trial date.
The Record reports (http://bit.ly/2cyfKVb ) Michael Marrara on Monday declined an offer that would’ve had him plead guilty to reckless manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child. He would’ve received a sentencing range of 3 to 5 years in prison.
The former Fort Lee, New Jersey man whose last known address was Boca Raton, Florida, has been given a trial date of Sept. 18, 2017.
Prosecutors say a pediatrician noticed bruises on Marrara’s 10-week old son, Andrew Jeremy, in February 2012.
Police found the child blue and non-responsive the following month. He later died at a hospital.
Marrara’s attorney declined to comment.
