A Connersville man was injured in the Brown County State Park Sept. 24 after the horse he was riding bucked him off.

Police responded to the park at around 6:45 p.m. for a report of an injured horserider along the road.

Michael J. Clarkson, 63, was riding private horses with his wife at around 6:45 p.m. when the horse he was riding bucked him off and threw him into a nearby tree, according to Angela Goldman, public information officer for Indiana Department of Natural Resources COs.

Clarkson sustained injuries to his shoulder and head. He was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital.

Goldman said they believe the horse was Clarkson’s, but are unable to completely confirm it.

Clarkson was riding a trial that ran along the road between the state park’s nature center and horse camp when the accident occurred.
