PHOENIX — Police are investigating after the discovery of a severed human arm in a commercial scrap yard in south Phoenix.

Police were called to the yard near 25th Avenue and Broadway Road about 8 a.m. Wednesday after receiving reports of human remains.

Witnesses say the arm still had a hand attached.

Police investigators are working to identify the victim, as well as trying to find out how the body part ended up in the scrap yard.

The arm was located in an open field within the yard.

Witnesses directed officers to the remains and police secured the area for an investigation.

Police say the scrap yard was searched for any additional body parts but none were immediately found.
