Letter: Health department offering free radon test kits

0

To the editor:

I still have 12 radon kits that are free to anyone who would like to test their home.

Here are some radon facts:

Radon is the leading cause of lung cancer in non-smokers.

Radon gas comes into the house through sump pits, floor joints, openings around basement pipes and cracks in the foundation and sometimes well water.

Radon cannot be seen or smelled.

Radon can be present in any type of structure: old, new, basement, no basement, brick or frame

If radon is detected in your home, there are methods to reduce the gas.

The Brown County Health Department is on the second floor of the County Office Building, 201 Locust Lane.
