FRUITDALE — A Morgantown man was thrown from a motorcycle on State Road 135 North Sept. 3 when a vehicle in front of him turned into a driveway quickly.

Richard W. Hawkins, 50, was riding in the 7100 block of 135 North when a vehicle in front of him turned left, causing him to swerve quickly to avoid a collision, an accident report states.

The driver of the vehicle told Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Austin Schonfeld that Hawkins was two cars behind him when he turned. He told officers he’s new to the area and turned into the driveway quickly.

Hawkins was flown to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for a complaint of neck pain.
