Letter: Teens want your volunteer hours

To the editor:

Hey, mom, dad, grandparents, aunt, uncle and people of Brown County: Tired of being bored? Extra time on your hands?

Here is a great way to be involved with teenagers in your community by being a stable, caring and supportive volunteer: Once a month for four hours at the BETA teen center after school on Tuesdays, 3 to 6:30 p.m., located behind Hoosier Art Gallery and Antique Alley shops.

Volunteers keep track of kids, help with programs and provide snacks in a safe environment, while teens have social time with friends and learn more from projects from local artists, teachers and local wildlife experts.

We have a June camp for four Monday afternoons in which we get the kids out of town to swim, do art in the park, pan for gold in Salt Creek, attend events local and surrounding counties and much more.

BETA is a 501(c)3 corporation, receiving funding from community grants and local organizations.
