Boyers Leland “Sam” Bucher of Nashville passed away Aug. 14, 2016, at IU Health Hospital in Bloomington.
Sam was born May 30, 1929 in Indianapolis to the late Joe and Velma (Ritter) Bucher. He grew up in Indianapolis.
Sam was an accountant with Mayflower Moving Company for many years before retiring and moving to Nashville. He moved to Brown County in 1989 and became a charter member of the Brown County Community Band where he played saxophone. He also enjoyed playing golf with his brother and many local friends.
Sam was a graduate of Butler University and was a member of Alpha Phi Omega. In his earlier years, he enjoyed being an Eagle Scout, Firecrafter and a Scoutmaster.
Sam is survived by his two children, Steve (Pamela) Bucher of Pittsboro and Ardis Lynn Bucher of Indianapolis; one brother, Lowell (Barbara) Stanley of Indianapolis; two stepchildren, Jim Jackson of Indianapolis and Jill Cleveland of Florida; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
As per Sam’s request, there are no services.
In lieu of cards or flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Brown County Community Band, P.O. Box 2044, Nashville, IN 47448; or to the local charity of the donor’s choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home in Nashville.
