An Indianapolis man whom police stopped just north of town limits July 31 was arrested.

Michael R. Thompson, 50, of Indianapolis was charged with operating while intoxicated — endangering a person and operating while intoxicated, both misdemeanors. He refused a chemical test and results of a blood draw are pending.

Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Bill Southerland reported he could see alcoholic beverage containers and smell alcohol when he pulled Thompson over at about 8 p.m. in the 2300 block of State Road 135 North.

He reported Thompson’s speech was slurred, his eyes were red and his balance was unsteady.

Thompson was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital and later booked into the Brown County jail.
