Driver crosses center line, causes collision

A Carmel woman was driving on Salt Creek Road when she crossed the center line and collided with a truck driven by a Bloomington man Aug. 8.

Lauren N. Schweizer, 20, was southbound on Salt Creek Road south of Brown Hill Road at about 9:20 a.m. when she went left of center in a right curve, according to an accident report from Lt. Mike Moore with the Brown County Sheriff’s Department.

Schweizer collided with a truck driven by Robert D. Porter, 49.

Porter attempted to stop, but could not go further to the right to avoid crashing into Schweizer’s Honda Accord.

Schweizer was taken to a hospital by ambulance for neck pain. Her passenger, Brandon D. Fields, 22, Nashville, had minor bleeding on his elbow or lower arm, but was not transported.

Porter also went to a hospital by ambulance for back pain.

Everyone was wearing their seat belts. Both vehicles were towed.
