School board approves more personnel changes

The Brown County School Board of Trustees approved the following July 7 and 21 and Aug. 4:

  • Retirement notice of Brown County Junior High School guidance counselor Vicki Reinking, effective at end of 2015-2016 contract year. To replace her, Helmsburg and Sprunica Elementary guidance counselor Terri Whitcomb was transferred, full-time with benefits, $50,931.50 per year, effective Aug. 1. Whitcomb also will spend one day a week at the intermediate and high schools.
  • Contracting with Tom Baker for Brown County Schools website management services, $15 per hour, 20 hours per week, annual cellphone stipend of $600.
  • Approving Luann Platt, Leann Dinsmore, Tammy Kesler and Jane Davis to work during Brown County High School registration Aug. 3 and 4, $10 per hour, not to exceed 64 hours.
  • Approving Sharon Snogdress and Pat Mulryan to work during Brown County Junior High School registration Aug. 3 and 4, $10 per hour, not to exceed 36 hours.
  • Assigning six hours as the usual and customary hours worked for all corporation special needs bus drivers. This is an adjustment to their assigned hours, which will be reflected in Affordable Care Act reporting.
  • Separating transportation administrative assistant Roger Cline, effective July 29. This was not a termination.
  • Separating BCHS Spanish teacher Moranda Terwilliger, effective at end of 2015-2016 school year. This was not a termination. To complete a portion of her duties, the board appointed Alice Mannix part-time, $18,675, level M-5, effective Aug. 8.
  • Separating BCJHS art teacher Jennifer Day, effective at end of 2015-2016 school year. This was not a termination.
  • Separating BCS special needs bus driver Jeffrey W. Oaldon, effective July 5. This was not a termination. Denise Ann Broussard was appointed to replace him, full-time with benefits, $77 per day, effective Aug. 10.
  • Separating BCS special needs bus driver Kayela Morris, effective July 5. This was not a termination. Gena Wagler Lucas was appointed to replace her, full-time with benefits, $77 per day, effective Aug. 10.
  • Separating BCS special needs bus driver Casey Simmons, effective July 8. This was not a termination. As a replacement, Rebecca Bell was appointed full-time with benefits, $77 per day, effective Aug. 10.
  • Separating BCS bus driver Dawn Oliver, effective July 5. This was not a termination. To replace her, Leslie Dras was transferred from special needs bus driver. To replace Dras, Patrick Knapp was appointed full-time with benefits, $77 per day, effective Aug. 10.
  • Separating BCHS junior varsity softball coach Kady Lane, effective July 20. This was not a termination.
  • Separating BCHS social studies teacher Ethan Schreiber, effective 2015-2016 school year. This was not a termination.
  • Appointing Brown County Junior High School special education teacher Rachel Hurdy, full-time with benefits, level B-5, $38,156 per year, effective Aug. 8. She is a replacement for Justin Schwenk, who is transferring to BCJHS social studies teacher, effective Aug. 8. Schwenk is a replacement for Emily Pettijohn, who is transferring to BCHS social studies teacher, effective Aug. 8. Pettijohn is a replacement for Schreiber.
  • Appointing Brown County Schools Technology Director David Phelps, $72,900, effective July 1. Since Phelps has been completing those duties since the beginning of June, the school board will pay him a stipend for that time. Phelps also was appointed BCHS girls soccer head coach, $4,134 stipend.
  • Appointing BCS Transportation Director Cal Blake, $52,900.
  • Appointing BCS technology interns Robert Kropack and Michael Harman, $10 per hour, not to exceed 75 hours, effective June 27 and 28, respectively.
  • Transferring BCJHS eighth-grade girls basketball coach Jim McFall to BCHS junior varsity basketball coach. He is a replacement for Heath Root. McFall also was appointed BCHS girls basketball junior varsity coach, $3,228 stipend.
  • Appointing Helmsburg Elementary School technology leader Olivia Hobbs. She is a replacement for Ryan Oliver.
  • Appointing Lauren Spiece as BCHS Spanish Club/Honor Society sponsor.
  • Appointing Pettijohn as BCHS History Day sponsor.
  • Appointing Kevin Greve and Margo Seastrom as freshman/sophomore class sponsors.
  • Appointing Seastrom as BCHS volleyball freshman coach, $1,552 stipend.
  • Appointing BCHS football head coach Randy Minniear, $6,392 stipend.
  • Appointing BCHS football assistant coach Jay Myers, $3,228 stipend.
  • Appointing BCHS football assistant coach Colten Sample, $3,228 stipend.
  • Appointing BCHS football assistant coach Kevin Greve, $3,228 stipend. He also was appointed BCHS softball head coach, $4,013 stipend.
  • Appointing BCHS football assistant coach Mike Carney, split with another person to be determined, $1,622 stipends.
  • Appointing BCHS girls soccer assistant coach Sophie Riebl, $1,535 stipend.
  • Appointing BCHS boys soccer head coach Erich Nolan, $4,013 stipend.
  • Appointing BCHS boys soccer assistant coach Joseph Grissom, $1,490 stipend.
  • Appointing BCHS volleyball head coach Julie Owens, $4,013 stipend.
  • Appointing BCHS volleyball junior varsity coach Dean Keefauver, $2,234 stipend.
  • Appointing BCHS cross country assistant varsity coach Kirk Wrightsman, $1,490 stipend.
  • Appointing BCHS track assistant coaches Wrightsman and Katie Yoder, $1,662,16 stipends.
  • Appointing Rob Abraham as BCHS cross country head coach, $4,013 stipend, and BCHS track head coach, $6,019.50 stipend.
  • Appointing Kevin Roush as BCHS boys tennis head coach, $4,013 stipend, and BCHS boys basketball freshman coach, $2,606 stipend.
  • Appointing BCHS girls golf head coach Brad Baughman, split with Ben VanNess, $2,006.50 and $2,067 stipends. Baughman also was appointed BCHS boys golf head coach, $4,013 stipend.

  • Transferring transportation trainer/tech Sandra Pool to assistant director of transportation, full-time with benefits, $41,500 per year, effective July 22. Pool also will receive compensation for time served in the job since July 1.
  • Transferring BCHS cafeteria manager Paula Waterman to food service administrative assistant, effective July 22.
  • Appointing Brown County Junior High School art teacher Laurette Roales, full-time with benefits, $38,156, level B-5, effective Aug. 8. Replacement for Jennifer Day.
  • Appointing BCHS Spanish teacher Alyssa Bontrager, full-time with benefits, $35,500, level B-0, effective Aug. 8. She is a replacement for Moranda Terwilliger.
  • Appointing BCJHS History Day sponsor Justin Schwenk, split with Amy Oliver, $434 stipends, replacement for Emily Pettijohn.
  • Appointing Sprunica Elementary School special education paraprofessional Alyssa Daffron, full-time with benefits, $8.86 per hour, effective Aug. 10. She is a replacement for Dawn Partyka.
  • Appointing Helmsburg and Sprunica Elementary schools’ counselor Jaclyn Hardin, full-time with benefits, $41,894, level M-4, effective Aug. 8. She is a replacement for Terri Whitcomb.
  • Transferring Brown County Schools general education bus driver Lenora Mathena to transportation department administrative assistant, full-time with benefits, 260 days, $32,500 per year, effective Aug. 1. She is a replacement for Roger Cline.
