Wanda Belle “Granny” (Mack) Mercer, 74, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus. She was a resident of Brown County.

Wanda was born March 30, 1942, in Johnson County, Arkansas, to the late George William and Ivean (McDaniel) Mack. She married Larry Gene Mercer on Jan. 21, 1960, in Morgantown; he survives after 56 devoted years of marriage.

Wanda enjoyed cooking, gardening and canning her fruits and vegetables. She never met a stranger and will be remembered for her love of friends and family. Wanda loved telling those close to her that, “I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.”

She is survived by her husband, Larry; children, Buddy Mercer of Brown County, Trina Mercer-Watkins of Bloomington, and Valerie (Mike) Dunn of Brown County; sister, Clara (David) Hickman of Morgantown; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John William Mack; and a niece, Shawna Hickman.

Pastor Paul Taylor conducted a funeral service July 23 at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown. Friends called prior to the service at the funeral home.
