Theodore “Ted” Belcas

Theodore ‘Ted” Belcas of Indianapolis passed away on July 17, 2016. He was 89 years old.

He was born Nov. 24, 1926, in Bargersville to the late George and Emma Belcas of Brown County. He grew up on the south side of Indianapolis during the Great Depression and served in the United States Army during WWII.

In 1951 he married his loving bride, Georgia Walden of London, Kentucky, and they were married for 64 years.

Ted loved his family more than anything and made sure family vacations were a staple of life. He enjoyed music, birdwatching, get-togethers, photography, the Smoky Mountains, Colts football, IU basketball and the Indy 500. He was a very loving, kind and generous person.

Survivors include his loving wife, Georgia; children, Gail (Charlie) Gill, Gloria (Dave) Weltich, David (Karen) Belcas, Dianne (Joe) Armstroff, Ted D. (Suzanne) Belcas, Amy (Bryan) Alexander and Bryan Belcas; 25 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his granddaugher, Kerri Anne Belcas-Walker; and siblings, Jim Belcas, Paul Belcas and Mary Shaffer.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 30 at 11 a.m. at Compass Park (on the grounds of the Indiana Masonic Home) 590 State St., Franklin, IN 46131.

Arrangements were entrusted to G. H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Ave., Indianapolis, IN.
