Ruth RashRuth Verlene Rash, 82, of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at Ashford Place Health Campus in Shelbyville.

She was born Aug. 5, 1933, in Sullivan County, daughter of George M. and Mary Catherine (Grizzle) Raley. On Aug. 5, 1950, she married her husband of 65 years, Ovie “Dean” Rash; he survives.

Ruth is also survived by her daughters, Deanna Shipman (husband, Gary) of Jasonville, Marsha Glasco (husband, Larry) and Amy Cory (husband, Gregg), both of Shelbyville, Darla Goodwin (husband, Andy) of Nashville; a brother, Everett Raley (wife, Lillis) of Hymera; brothers-in-law, Floyd Rash of Jasonville and Robert Simpson (wife, Reba) of Shelbyville; sisters-in-law, Betty Rady and Carolyn Robertson, both of Shelbyville; grandchildren, B.A. Shipman (wife, Shawn), Bret Shipman (wife, Nicole), Deena Bodine (husband, Ryan), Eric Glasco (wife, Lauren), Joshua Goodwin (wife, Katrina), Andrea Oswald (husband, William), Amber Woodrum (husband, Austin), Jacob Williams (wife, Samantha) and Logan Williams; great-grandchildren, Bryly Shipman, Brayson Shipman, Gwendolyn Shipman, Brynn Bodine, Liam Bodine, Colin Bodine, Rowan Bodine, Marlee Glasco, Jordan Oswald, Jayden Oswald, Jasen Oswald, Madilyn Oswald, Kaitlynn Goodwin, Laine Goodwin, Samantha Goodwin, Addison Goodwin, Bryce Woodrum, Cooper Woodrum and Wesley Williams; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Fred Raley, Carroll Raley and Basil Raley; sisters, Geneva Roberts, Lorene Jerrells, Mary Monroe and Lois Willis; and sister-in-law, Gleela Critser.

Ruth enjoyed gardening, flowers and bird watching. She loved time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ruth enjoyed cooking for her family and loved the holidays.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 22, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 23 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Simpson officiating.

Interment will be in Miller Cemetery, Shelbyville.
