The “soft opening” of Chocolate Moose Brown County July 16 and 17 attracted a crowd of locals and visitors trying out the latest addition to the local culinary scene.

The store will be open again Thursday, July 21 from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., said owner Justin Loveless. After July 21, the restaurant on South Van Buren Street will be open every day of the week from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Loveless said he was very pleased with the turnout at the opening.

The store is now able to serve all the foods available at the original Bloomington Chocolate Moose, Loveless said. He plans to continue building onto the menu.

The store served ice cream — homemade and soft serve — burgers and dogs, sodas and shakes, and drip coffee during the first weekend.

If training of new staff goes as planned, Nick Schultz’s Brown County Coffee will be available starting July 21, Loveless said.

The drive-through may be open within the next couple weeks, he said.
