Lilly Endowment scholarship deadline changes

Brown County Community Foundation is adjusting its timeline for choosing a local Lilly Endowment Community Scholar.

The BCCF will make scholarship applications for 2017 graduates available in early August.

Completed applications will be due Monday, Sept. 19. Other information will be announced publicly and to high school guidance offices when school resumes in August.

The 2017 Brown County Lilly scholar will be named early in December 2016. Previous scholarship recipients were identified in March the year they graduated from high school.

The change affects the program for all Indiana community foundations.

The foundation’s volunteer scholarship committee members will meet to review scholarship criteria and selection process to ensure it is compatible with the new deadline.

“We are making the needed changes and look forward to a new way of conducting our Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship process,” said Jenise Bohbrink, development and program assistant.

Deadlines for all other BCCF scholarships will remain in the same time frame as previous years; applications will be available in November and due Jan. 30, 2017.
