Street striping may happen downtown at end of month

The temporary striping down the newly repaved Van Buren Street is not permanent — even though it’s been there for more than a month.

Town officials have been going back and forth with the Indiana Department of Transportation about how to stripe the main street through Nashville, which is also a state highway.

Where the dashed lines are now is not where they’re going to stay, said Town Utility Coordinator Sean Cassiday. He said he thinks the permanent lines may be painted by the end of this month, since that’s when the entire project — which also included repaving, crosswalks, ramps and some curb work — is contracted to be done.
