New speed limits take effect on four roads

Four county roads are now restricted to 30 mph speed limits.

Three are related to increased traffic from road work detours: Three Story Hill and Cottonwood roads, as well as Lick Creek Road north of Cottonwood.

The commissioners also approved a 30 mph speed limit for Upper Schooner Road. That change is related to residents’ complaints about drivers going too fast, Brown County Highway Superintendent Mike Magner said.

In addition, the commissioners asked that Magner place advisory speed limit signs on Horseshoe Road. Drivers cannot be cited for the limit posted on a yellow advisory sign, but it might encourage them to slow down.
