Mike Chapel, 65, beloved husband, father, grandfather “Patcher” and friend, passed away in a sudden accident Tuesday, June 14, 2016.

He is survived by his wife, Dot Chapel; his daughter and grandson, Tasha and Jayden Chapel; his son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Stephanie Chapel; and his brothers, William “Butch” and Patrick Chapel.

He was preceded by his parents, Bill and Dolly Chapel.

He was the rock of our family. Mike walked closely in his journey with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and was passionate about sharing the good news of Jesus.

Mike was a State Farm agent for 30 years and worked alongside his son for the last seven. He loved becoming a recent racing kart aficionado and coach to his grandson, Jayden. He was also an avid woodworker and loved playing bluegrass music. One of his greatest passions was working outdoors in God’s beautiful creation. He and Dot have lived in Nashville for the last four years, where Mike worked hard, and successfully, to make it their haven.

He was a wonderful, loving, funny, God-fearing man and will leave those impressions with all who came to know him. He never met a stranger. He will be deeply missed.

He was remembered on Saturday, June 18.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to either S.A.V.E. (Sierra Leone Agape Volunteer Effort, a mission that Mike and Dot helped start) or New Life Community Church missions. Checks can be made payable to “S.A.V.E.” or “New Life Community Church — Missions” and dropped at New Life Church in Nashville, (P.O. Box 654, Nashville, IN 47448); or mailed to S.A.V.E., 130 W. Hawthorne St., Zionsville IN 46077.
