Mize, Jerry photoJerome “Jerry” H. Mize, 83, of Nashville, died Saturday, June 18, 2016, in Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, Columbus.

Born Nov. 10, 1932, in Merom to Hugh Mize and Amelia Riggle Mize, he was self-employed for many years doing odd jobs and lawn care.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Dolores Mize of Nashville; three children, Thomas Mize (wife, Sue) of Holland, Michigan, David Mize of Elizabethtown and Virginia Achterhof (husband, Randall) of Spring Lake, Michigan; six grandchildren, T. J. Mize, David Mize, Daniél Mize, Alvin Achterhof, Jay Achterhof and Robin Achterhof; numerous great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Roberta “Jean” Mize.

Jerry attended Harmony Baptist Church for many years. A U.S. Navy Veteran, he volunteered many hours at Brown County Health & Living Community. He had been a school crossing guard and enjoyed fishing and camping.

Funeral services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Friday, June 24 at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home, 1682 State Road 135 North, with Pastor Stan Loutner officiating.

Burial will follow in Brown County Memorial Park with military honors performed by the Brown County Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 23, at the funeral home.
