HAMBLEN TWP. — Four young people were taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital June 9 after police say an underage man drove drunk and crashed on Nineveh Road.

Alec Cunningham, the driver, was preliminarily charged with operating while intoxicated, reckless driving, and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor, according to a press release from the Brown County Sheriff’s Department. He had not been formally charged as of press time.

His age or town of residence were not immediately available; neither were the ages of the injured occupants of that vehicle, who were described as minors with “unknown injuries.”

Officers, ambulances and two fire departments were called to the 9600 block of Nineveh Road at about 8:35 p.m. June 9.

A 911 caller reported that one person had been ejected from the vehicle and was laying in the road. Who that person was is not yet clear; the entire police report was not yet available.

Officer Josh Stargell reported that Cunningham was driving at a high rate of speed, left the road, overcorrected and rolled the vehicle two times.

Cunningham told the officer that he had been drinking the entire evening, Stargell’s press release said.

He was taken to the Brown County jail for a breath test.
