HAMBLEN TWP. — A Columbus man was injured June 7 after the large dump truck he was driving overturned and trapped him inside on Beech Tree Road.

Larry Starr, 55, was taken by ambulance to Johnson Memorial Hospital in stable condition after he was extricated by Hamblen Township Volunteer Fire Department firefighters and EMS personnel, according to a press release from the Brown County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies and other emergency personnel responded to the accident in the 6500 block of Beech Tree Road just after 5 p.m. and found Starr trapped in the truck by the steering wheel.

Starr told officers he was driving west on Beech Tree when he ran off the road after meeting a car going the opposite direction.

Starr had left rib pain, numbness on his right side and lacerations on his arms.

The truck was carrying a full load of gravel, which was scattered on and along the edge of Beech Tree Road. The road closed for three hours while the gravel was cleaned up and the truck was lifted by two wreckers, the press release said.
