Driver arrested for paraphernalia possession

An Ellettsville man was arrested May 19 after police say he crossed the center line twice in the area of Upper Schooner Road.

Nashville Police Officer Kyle Seward was patrolling on State Road 46 West across from the Green Valley Motor Lodge when William Jans, 30, drove by traveling 51 mph, over the limit.

Seward began following the vehicle and stopped it at Mike’s Dance Barn after he saw it cross the center line.

Jans told Seward that he was coming from Nashville after work and he was very tired, the affidavit said.

Jans’ driver’s license had expired in 2015, and he had a warrant out of Lawrence County for failure to appear, the officers learned.

Jans said he did not know about the warrant.

During an inventory of Jans’ vehicle, Seward said he found multiple colored pipes. He was charged the same day with possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
