NEWARK, N.J. — A New Jersey man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for his role in several armed robberies in 2013.
Gary Bohanan had previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy, bank robbery and armed robbery counts. As part of his plea agreement, he was also sentenced to five years of supervised release Friday in Newark.
The U.S. attorney’s office says the 47-year-old North Bergen resident was the leader of a group that robbed several banks and restaurants in July 2013.
Bohanan was captured while fleeing from a bank robbery in Fairview on July 26, 2013.
Two co-defendants also pleaded guilty and were each sentenced last year to roughly four years in prison. A woman also charged in connection to the robberies died in 2014.
