Martinsville woman airlifted after motorcycle accident

VAN BUREN TWP. — A Martinsville woman was airlifted Sunday after an accident on State Road 135 South at Selmar Hill.

Lori Dittemore, 36, was riding a motorcycle south on State Road 135 when she lost control on the hill and ran off the west side of the road at around 1:30 p.m.

Dittemore received several lacerations, right shoulder pain and a possible back and left hip injury, according to a press release from the Brown County Sheriff’s Department.

EMS transported Dittemore to Van Buren Elementary School where she was airlifted to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for further treatment. She was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, the release states.

An accident witness told police that Dittemore lost control of the motorcycle after hitting gravel on the edge of the road. She then over-corrected and ran off the road, according to the press release.

Van Buren Volunteer Fire Department assisted the Brown County Sheriff’s Department and EMS at the scene.
