Prewitt, Phillip photoPhillip Ray Prewitt, Sr., 64, of Nashville, passed away Friday, May 6, 2016, in Bloomington.

Born Sept. 23, 1951, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Ernest Leroy Prewitt and Kathryn (Hughes) Prewitt. They preceded him in death.

Phillip served his country as a United States Marine. He retired as a machinist from the GM truck and bus plant in Indianapolis. Phillip was a member of UAW and APA Pool League. He liked fishing, going to Florida, attending the World Champion 3-Hour Figure 8 Endurance Race at the Speedrome in Indianapolis, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his fiancée, April Reeves of Nashville; his children, Phillip Ray Prewitt, Jr. (Bobbie) of Indianapolis, Tammy Prewitt (David Brown) of Nashville; brother, Fred T. “Shorty” Prewitt (Alice) of Nashville; sister, Patty Crickmore (John, deceased) of Indianapolis; and his grandchildren, Leah Prewitt, Eleni Prewitt, Krista Schaefer, Alexandra Holt, Nathan Holt, Paige Holt, Heaven Prewitt, Brett Prewitt, Halo Prewitt and Legend Prewitt.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Steven Prewitt.

The family will receive friends at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home, 1682 State Road 135 North, from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 15.

Visitation will conclude with military honors at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
