Delay to SR 45 bridge closure

The closure of the State Road 45 bridge over Lick Creek has been delayed until at least Monday, May 23, said Brown County Commissioner Diana Biddle.

The Indiana Department of Transportation originally planned to close the the bridge April 25, according to an email sent April 18 by an INDOT representative.

The project has since had multiple delays, mostly related to inclement weather.

Biddle said that before the bridge project can begin, crews need to move a water line, and the ground is currently too soft for work to proceed.

Since the emergency closure of the Morgantown bridge on State Road 135 North, INDOT has agreed to keep the intersection of Lick Creek Road and State Road 45 open until the Morgantown bridge project is completed.

INDOT had planned to close the intersection in order to accommodate a staging area for the Lick Creek bridge project. However, Lick Creek Road currently serves as a local detour for the closed Morgantown bridge.
