From firemen, police and veterans to caped characters of all ages, Brown County celebrated superheroes during the Spring Blossom Festival in downtown Nashville Saturday.

The grand marshal of the Brown County Lions Club’s Spring Blossom Parade was World War II veteran Bob Gipson, the oldest living prisoner of war from Brown County.

The Spring Blossom Festival, sponsored by the Brown County Democrat, carried a “Batman” theme to mark the 50th anniversary of the original movie starring Adam West. A 1966 Batmobile appeared in the parade — featuring the caped crusader himself — and inspired many other costumed characters in the lineup and lining the streets.

The festival continues tonight with a dance, the Batman Boogie and Superhero Stomp, from 6 to 10 p.m. at The Seasons Lodge; all are welcome, and encouraged to come in costume. Admission is $5 and/or a food donation to support local pantries.
