Chip-seal on 135 North to start Monday

Indiana Department of Transportation maintenance crews from the Martinsville unit plan to start chip-sealing 12 miles of State Road 135 from Nashville north to Morgantown on Monday, May 9, weather permitting.

Operations will begin in the northbound lane a mile north of S.R. 46 in Brown County (around Ridgeway Drive) and proceed to the closed Indian Creek bridge in Morgan County.

INDOT officials hope to chip-seal the southbound lane from Morgantown to the north side of Nashville on Tuesday.

S.R. 135 will be fog sealed later in the month.

Chip-seal applications coat the highway with liquid asphalt, sealing pavement cracks and protecting the roadbed from ultraviolet rays. This extends service life and lowers overall maintenance costs, INDOT said.

Similar work on State Road 135 South from the 135/46 split to Freetown is tentatively scheduled to start Thursday, May 12. Read more information here.
