National Spanish Examinations

Students from Brown County High School attained national recognition for their performance on the 2016 National Spanish Examinations.

Gold medalist Solei Garland achieved a 97 percent rating on the Spanish Level 3 exam.

Silver medalists were Jacey Ferguson and Taylor Roberts, Level 3, and Palmira Soto García, Level 4.

Bronze medalists were Adriana Fonseca, Level 3, and Makaleigh Laymen, Level 4.

Honorable Mentions were Autumn Bryant, Corina Cagle, Kaitlyn Pearson, Kayla Snyder and Leah Tucker, Level 3; Victoria Akles, Elisabeth Huls, and Abraham Oliver, Level 4; and Corina Greiner, Michael Knox, and Kiara Unsworth, Level 5.

Alice Mannix, the students’ teacher, said she is proud of all her students for their hard work.

“Attaining a medal or honorable mention for any student on the National Spanish Examinations is very prestigious,” said Kevin Cessna-Buscemi, national director of the exams.

In 2016, more than 160,000 students took the tests.
