The deadline to pay spring property tax bills is Tuesday, May 10.
Bills must either be paid in person or postmarked prior to the due date, said Brown County Treasurer Mary Smith.
Taxpayers are asked to bring their entire bill with them when making payment, Smith said. However, the treasurer’s office can print a new bill if the original has been lost.
The late penalty is 5 percent, Smith said. If the payment is an additional 30 days late or if the taxpayer is already delinquent on a property tax payment, the late fee is 10 percent.
Smith’s office is on the first floor of the County Office Building, 201 Locust Lane. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.
Cash, check and credit cards are accepted as forms of payment, but 4 percent fee is charged for credit card use, Smith said.
