ATLANTA — Atlanta officials have issued a boil water advisory for several parts of the city after a power outage knocked out two pumping stations offline.

Local news media reports that heavy storms Saturday evening caused more than 100 outages, affecting at least 6,000 customers. The advisory includes Fox Theatre in Midtown, Cabbagetown, Edgewood, Old Fourth Ward, West End, Peoplestown, Reynoldstown, Mechanicsville, Summerhill, Edgewood, Avon Avenue and South Fulton County.

Officials say water was restored in 60 minutes. Customers living in these areas should boil water for one minute past a rolling boil before using it to cook, drink, or brush your teeth.

The Department of Watershed Management is flushing the system as a precaution and sampling the affected zones to affirm that there is no contamination in the system.
