Letter: Art gallery ‘acting like a biker bar’ with new event

0

To the editor:

In the March 30 edition of The Democrat, I was terribly saddened to learn the Brown County Art Guild was having an inaugural motorcycle, beer and belly, flamenco and hoop dancer event.

Brown County is known as the art colony of the Midwest, and the guild that once was a jewel to be proud of is acting like a biker bar instead of a fabulous art gallery.

With this type of event, the guild is turning itself into an embarrassment, in my and others’ opinions. The guild appears to be making misguided choices that will likely cause permanent damage to its once well-respected name and the reputations of the many artists who have shown and show work there.

I would think the true artists will be leaving quickly.
