LAKE LEMON — Lake Lemon is set to receive $5,000 in Indiana Department of Natural Resources grant money to help remove invasive plant species from the lake.

The grant comes from the Division of Fish and Wildlife’s Lake and River Enhancement program, according to a DNR press release.

The program includes 42 projects in 15 counties around the state, including one other nearby project at Monroe County’s Griffy Lake.

The local sponsor must share at least 20 percent of the total cost of the project. The local sponsor for the Lake Lemon grant is the Lake Lemon Conservancy District.

Examples of the plants to be targeted include Eurasian watermilfoil, curly-leaf pondweed and starry stonewort, the press release said.
