VANCOUVER, Wash. — Authorities say an off-duty firefighter was struck by a vehicle and killed while he was walking near his Vancouver home.

Vancouver Police say 27-year-old Andrew Miller was in the roadway when he was struck by a motorist Thursday night. Miller was taken to a hospital where he died early Friday.

The driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police don’t believe alcohol or speed were factors in the crash.

Miller began working with the Vancouver Fire Department in September 2011.
