WOLFSBURG, Germany — Champions League quarterfinalist Wolfsburg has removed Denmark striker Nicklas Bendtner from training, in another step that brings the player closer to being released.
Bendtner had already been training on his own and has not featured in coach Dieter Hecking’s plans for months.
Wolfsburg director Klaus Allofs says the situation had become “unsatisfactory for all” and indicated a quick solution. Bendtner has another season in his contract.
He never settled down after arriving from Arsenal in 2014 and has angered the management on numerous occasions with his off-field behavior.
Wolfsburg plays Real Madrid in the Champions League quarterfinals, with the first leg at home next Wednesday.
