CONCORD, N.H. — A New Hampshire prosecutor confirms that a Dartmouth College professor charged with possessing videos containing images of child sex abuse has pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Concord.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Nick Abramson said Thursday that 49-year-old J. Martin Favor faces up to 10 years in prison when sentenced on July 11. Abramson says there is no mandatory minimum sentence for possession of child pornography.
Favor pleaded not guilty at his arraignment last year. He was arrested in September after authorities say police found five videos depicting sexual abuse of children in Favor’s home.
A Dartmouth spokeswoman says Martin remains on paid leave.
Once any prison time is served, Favor also faces a fine of up to $250,000.
Abramson said Favor remains free awaiting sentencing.
