ST. LOUIS — Hundreds gathered for the funeral for a St. Louis teacher who was killed last week, saying she will be remembered as a champion for children.

Jocelyn Peters was a third-grade teacher at Mann Elementary School in the city. The school was closed Wednesday so students, faculty and staff could attend her funeral. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch ( ) reports they filled several rows of Journey church’s sanctuary.

Peters was found fatally shot March 24 in her apartment. She was 30, and seven months pregnant with a baby girl. No arrests have been made.

Elder William Davie says Peters gave her all to the children, and they’ll always remember her.
